My name is Katie Williams. I am 28 years old. I am originally from Gaffney, SC. I grew up in Roebuck, SC. I currently live in Wellford, SC.
I graduated from Dorman High School in 2004. I participated in the Teacher Cadet program and shadowed at Roebuck Elementary School with Mrs. Robin Wright. I was also a student athletic trainer for 3 years.
After high school, I went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Converse College. At Converse, I served as the secretary of the Day Student Association. I also took extra classes so I could complete requirements for add-on certification in Early Childhood Education.
In the Fall of 2013, I began a new journey with the University of Missouri online. I have completed half of the coursework necessary for a M.Ed. in Reading Education. I completed the coursework last summer to earn my Bachelor's +18. I will complete the program in December 2016. Last summer, I passed the Teaching Reading Praxis test with a score of 187.
I have 8 years of teaching experience. I worked for 3 years at Park Hills Elementary School. I taught first grade for one year and third grade for two years. When the school closed, I was transferred to Mary H. Wright Elementary School. There, I taught second grade for two years and I have been teaching first grade for three years.
I have been married for almost 7 years to my husband, Brian. We have a 4 year old son named Micah and an 11 month old son name Jackson. I love going to church and enjoy serving in the choir at The Mill. I love reading and cooking. I couldn't live without my iPad. I also enjoy participating in activities at our church. During the summer, I enjoy spending time with family and going to Lake Bowen to swim.
