As A Presenter

In 2013, one of my colleagues and I collaborated to give a presentation to district faculty on how to effectively use iPads in the classroom. We used Edmodo to facilitate our presentation so teachers could discuss and ask questions during the presentation and throughout the school year.  The title of the presentation was New and Digital Literacy: Using iPads in the Classroom.

I created an iMovie to begin the presentation so the teachers could get a glimpse of what our presentation would entail and get excited about their new learning.

In April 2014, I participated with a team of teachers provided more professional development to district faculty on using QR codes effectively across the curriculum.

The same team of teachers traveled to Nevitt Forest Elementary School and gave a presentation on the effective use of technology for literacy instruction. The second iMovie shows more picture of students who are actively engaged in learning in my classroom.

Another presentation that I prepared was on creating High Progress Literacy Classrooms. This presentation was based off of a data team training I attended through SCDE for Priority Schools. Although the presentation was set aside in favor of presenting QR codes instead, it highlights the aspects of literacy that I have incorporated in my classroom that has attributed to the reading growth I have seen in my classroom.

In August of 2014, I become a Class Dojo mentor and trained other teachers on how to use Class Dojo in their classroom.

My classroom is set up to incorporate technology in innovative ways to enhance literacy instruction. I was nominated for a DILA award in 2014. I also provide students with small group instruction and time to practice reading strategies Through the use of technology in the classroom and intensive small group instruction with implementing Daily 5, my students were able to grow 1.09 years in reading during the 2013-2014 school year and 1.12 years in 2014-2015.
